Classification of Differential Equations

Differential Equations can be classified in many different ways

Solutions to Ordinary Differential Equation only have one dependent variable while Partial Differential Equations have two or more

Differential equations can be given in a single equation or a set of equations

The order of different equations refer to the highest derivative involved

For example,

Would be a 2nd order partial derivative

Differential equations can be classified as linear if all of derivatives of the unknown term are linear

Any non-linear component makes the equation non-linear
